Company History

History & Ownership

  • In 2002, the founders of the company developed the pooling concept under the brand Globepool (founded in 1999) within the SAirGroup to pool for members of the now defunct Qualiflyer Alliance.
  • After the demise of Swissair, the company was renamed Unitpool and the founders found financial backing to bring their idea to fruition. Swissport became majority owner in 2003.
  • On 24th October 2007 Swissport sold the majority of its shares in Unitpool to Aviation Services Holdings (ASH), a holding created by Dr. Ludwig Bertsch, industry expert and Chairman of Unitpool’s board, and Afinum, a German Private Equity house.
  • On 31st August 2010, Unitpool was acquired in full by Brambles Industries Ltd.
  • Brambles acquired JMI Aerospace in August 2011 and Driessen Services in November 2011. Both companies are specialised in the maintenance and repair of non-flight critical aviation equipment, such as ULDs and airline galley equipment.
  • Brambles announced the launch of CHEP Aerospace Solutions in November 2011, integrating Unitpool, JMI Aerospace and Driessen Services into the world's largest independent network of pooled ULDs and repair centres.
